Apple says we don't want netbooks, I say bullpucky! We have been wanting a netbook for the few times we travel or for the few times Ryanne is stuck in bed. Recently Woot.com had a refurbished Asus Eee PC 900 for $150. It arrived this week.
It is running Linux and was loaded with Firefox & Skype. It looks like it fits perfect for what we need it for. We had also been considering getting a Dell mini to turn into a "Hackintosh & load OS X on it. If Apple put one out for $499 it would be a hit (IMHO). Rumors still point to some sort of portable device, but Apple is still saying they are anti-netbook. |

Apple also said that no one wants one of those non-hard drive music players. They were saying that right up to the point where they announced the first Nano.
Most salesmen will tell you that you don't want or need something if they don't have it. Instead, you need whatever they are selling now that may or may not be close (so Apple is pushing the Touch at the moment for that space). === Professor Hubert Farnsworth: “Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That’s what being a scientist is all about.” Cubert J. Farnsworth: “No, that’s what being a magical elf is all about.” |
