How far back did you go in TimeMachine? You should keep going back "in time" until you find a good copy.

Brian is right, Sharon. You need to go back to a Time Machine date that is prior to the touch software update. Also, it's a good idea to make backups of your address book when you've made changes. If you look under the File menu > Export, you will see "Address Book Archive." That will save a copy of the current contents to your Documents folder with the current date. If something goes wrong, you can just import the file back into Address Book. I haven't had a problem with my touch, but I had it happen a couple of times when I was using a Palm.
