I have a first generation iPod touch-will I be able to install the new 3.0 software on it? I got a message to install it on my ipod-when I connected it. I see I have to pay the additional $9.95 fee (no big deal), but what is the point if it will not work on my 1st gen or will it?

The iPhone OS 3.0 update will work on all iPhones and both the 1st and 2nd generation iPod touch. It's free for iPhone users and $9.95 for iPod touch users.

I have a 1st generation ipod touch and downloaded the update. Be aware that not all functions will be operative on the 1st generation model but it seems faster and you will get the landscape keyboard feature. Also the search feature is very nice. Worth the $9.95.

I installed it on my 1st gen touch. The new keyboard is great. The "find my iPhone" feature works well. Ditto search and copy & paste.
