Im looking to get one of these devises and the nano is close to the same price as the classic ipod (about $25 difference). I dont get it the ipod has 80gb and the nano has 8gb. is it just because the nano is smaller?
thanks kelly
Any tips about older nanos and ipods please include.

The iPod Classic uses a Hard Drive (meaning moving parts) and the Nano/Shuffle/iPod Touch all use Flash Memory for storage. Flash Memory is more expensive and comes in smaller capacities than a Hard Drive. If you are an very active person, you would be better off with a Nano/Shuffle/iPod Touch. If you not as active, the iPod Classic may be a better choice.

If you need to carry every song that you own/have, the Classic is the way to go. If you are more particular about the music you carry around than consider the Nano. Only YOU can make that call.

For capacity I love my 160GB iPod classic, but it is heavy compared to the Nano & Touch. I have a Shuffle for walking around or working out with. (ok I don't work out, but if I did...) The Classic is almost filled to capacity with music and about a dozen audio books. I love having my entire music collection with me at all times. And for travel it is great to be able to put movies & TV shows on it.

I use the Classic in the car for my commute, at work & for renting movies from iTunes to view on my TV. On the weekends I use the shuffle and don't worry about leaving it in the car, or I just throw it in my pocket.

As everyone else has said, "It depends." My 80GB iPod is full of books, music, and MacGroup videos. When I'm traveling, even just around town, I like the ability to switch modes without messing with the computer. I just don't notice the weight.
