One of iPhoto '09's new features is the ability to work with Geotagged photos. It's called "Places" in iPhoto. If you have a GPS on your camera or use an iPhone then this location info is automatically detected and added to the photo which automatically added to the built-in (Google) map to show where you were when you took the pictures.

However, if you aren't so lucky to have GPS data in your pics. you can manually add the location in iPhoto simply by typing the name of the location or the address! Cool!

It gets better!
One of my long standing pet peeves with iPhoto was that if you spent time putting things in like keywords, that information would be lost if you ever exported your photos out of iPhoto. Well Apple finally fixed this in iPhoto '09. Now when you export, you have the ability to include the Titles and Keywords AND the Location information. Finally!

Here's the trick! You can use iPhoto to geotag photos by adding the name of the location or the address and when you export those photos out, iPhoto will automatically convert this info into the longitude and latitude of where the photo was taken.
