I often open, maybe save, pdf documents of public domain books or music scores. Some are VERY lengthy, though just a few pages are significant enough to save. So far, that meant downloading the whole thing, then hunting for the desired pages, extracting them using Acrobat Pro, then deleting the large file.

Light has dawned lately: Firefox opens pdf's in a window that enables locating specific pages, then "printing" just the selection to a pdf file. If I located something while in Safari, that meant copying the url to Firefox, then extracting a select portion.

Well, TODAY, more light dawned while fiddling in Safari "preferences." The "Advanced" area has a mysterious checkbox "Show Develop in Menu Bar." Tried it out. Lo and behold, it provides the choice to open a page in a different browser, without copying the url, etc.
