From OSXHelp:
"Simply press Command+Control+D while hovering your mouse over any word, and a little window pops up with the definition. No need to hold down the keys, as it has already been activated. However, if you do continue to hold the keys, you can move your mouse over another word to see its definition as well." |

It only works in Cocoa apps.
I got tired of trying to remember that key combo, so I reassigned it to F7. === Professor Hubert Farnsworth: “Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That’s what being a scientist is all about.” Cubert J. Farnsworth: “No, that’s what being a magical elf is all about.” |

How about highlight word - if you have a right key on your mouse, press it and it gives you "Look up in Dictionary"....if you don't have the right key you still highlight the word then press control and click on the highlighted word and get "Look up in dictionary" too.
Just an alternative to the floating dictionary - it does not work in Firefox. |
