I'm not sure when this feature got implemented but I just discovered it. So it may or may not work in Panther.
You know how when you're on a webpage that has a form and you're tabbing your way through the fields to fill out the info and you hit a field that has a pop up list of choices? Well up until today, I would always reach for my mouse and click on the popup and make my choice and then resume typing again. For many years other browsers simply allowed you to tab to the popup list and simply start typing your choice such as "M" for Michigan. It would pop down the list and highlight Michigan, hit return and you were on your way. Safari now has this ability but it works a little differently. Today I noticed that when I was filling out a form, and I hit tab to the State popup list it had a blue highlight around it. I hit "M" and nothing happened. However, when I hit the down arrow key on my keyboard low and behold the list popped up. I then hit "M" and it took me to Maine. I then kept typing "Mic" and it took me right to Michigan. I hit Return to lock it in! This has been a frustration of mine ever since Safari came out. I'm glad that it got fixed, I just wish I had noticed it sooner. ---- You can never go wrong by doing the right thing. 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions. There are three kinds of people, those who are good at math and those who aren't. There are two kinds of computer users: those who have lost data and those who are about to — backup your Mac! |
