Does anyone know how to set up InDesign CS3 and Quark 7 to automatically save the 'Author Name' in Acrobat 8 Document Properties, when exporting a pdf from InDesign CS3 and Quark 7?

This relates to InD CS2, so not sure if it's the same for CS3. Menu item names & locations sometimes change in different versions, but it's probably there somewhere. (Don't use Quark, so can't help there.)
You may have to enter the author metadata in each InD. document. For CS2, select "File info…" in the "File" menu. This brings up a dialog with numerous categories (author, camera data, etc.) In the "Description" window, there are fields for Document Title, Author, Author Title, Copyright info, etc. Make the entries desired. Export to pdf, and your InD. entries will show in the Document Properties of the pdf. To access more detailed data entered in the InD file, select "Additional Metadata" in the "Description" window of the pdf "Properties," and the same dialog as the one in InD will open. Ok, that works.
However, I don't want to have to enter the name everytime. I want the Author information to show up automatically. For instance, I have Microsoft Word on my mac, when I export a pdf out of word, the 'author' automatically has my name in the pdf document properties. I think it gets my name from my log in. Can InD do the same? |

You may wish to try the Adobe InDesign support Forum if nobody here knows the answer to setting up a "default" author. I spent some time with InD Online Help, but with no answer. Couldn't find anything in Bridge either.
This link is for the Mac InD. Forum. You probably have to register to post a question. http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ee6b330/ "For what is age but youth's full bloom, A riper, more transcendent youth" - Oliver Wendell Holmes |
