Keywords in iPhoto are simply not reliable. The Bridge assigns the keywords to the files directly. So if I have a JPEG picture of Jan and give it the key "Jan", that keyword is actually embedded in the JPEG file itself. The nice part about this is that it moves with the file from app to app. When you assign keywords in iPhoto, the keywords are put into the iPhoto database. Therefore, if you export the picture from iPhoto, the pictures will NOT have keywords embedded in them. Is this reason that I know longer bother putting keywords in iPhoto. If iPhoto is all you use, then the keyword feature is better than nothing.

So when you import images that actually have keywords in them (such as those put in by the Bridge), iPhoto does read them in and put them in the database. However, it's a one way trip.

I have no clue as to why iPhoto wouldn't print your picture. If you export it out of iPhoto and open it in another app, does it print? Keywords should not stop it from printing, so there is probably something else going on there.

Before reinstalling any app that is acting weird, the first thing you should try is trashing the preferences for that app. Actually, moving them to another folder such as the desktop and then relaunching the app to see if the program exhibits the same weird behavior should do the trick.

I found something else weird,,,this time I was on my Imac by coincidence...if I try to email a bridged keyworded photo via IPHOTO, I get no pic,,,if I try to edit the pic I get a grey screen with a white border and exclamation mark. How crazy is that?

Experiment #2
i downloaded a few fresh pics via bridge to the desktop...I added names and keywords and closed the folder...then I dropped them into Iphoto...no names or keywords came up but was able to email and edit the pic. so it sounds like Iphoto and Bridge have an issue when you use iphoto first
