I haven't been to Somerset mall in a while...

What will be different with the "new" store on June 2nd

Larger ? Different layout ?

Somerset will be much larger and open looking. The style looks like what all the new stores are being designed as. Think stainless steel meets PowerBook/MacBookPro

The "store within a store" layout that Somerset has been living with for the last few months was really tiny. Surprisingly, most of the customers were very understanding during this phase and commented that the remodel was long overdue.

Completely different look - all Apple retail will eventually get this complete make-over.
Think grayish/Aliminum/Titanium type finish -& all the white display tables are gone.

Where will the media center be located in the Somerset store? The one with home cinema projectors?

Sounds like the new store layout and design will be something to see........looking forward to the re-opening in June

According to this article in the NYT, Apple "gets it" when it comes to retail and Sony doesn't.

Last December while looking for a new TV, I stopped in a mall that had both a Sony Store and an Apple store. At the Sony Store, the help was preoccupied with themselves and when they finally walked up to me to while I was looking at the TV's...their sales approach was mainly "knocking" the competition and knew the minimum about their own product. Afterwards.....I walked over to the Apple Store.....just buzzing with people "learning" about the products.

I stopped in for a couple minutes today at the re-opening of the Apple store at the Sommerset Mall. The new style of store will have to grown on me. I do like it but the older style store had warmer colors and I always like wood floors. The products are now even more assessable with all the tables in the middle of the store and a larger Genius Bar at the rear of the store. The question I had to finally ask in the store was where are the cashiers......

Hand held easy pay units one on one !! People using cash can use the register at the back of the store. I was the first one in line saw NO one from any of the 3 user groups I know of ! where was everyone!!?

Apple expands the store but still keeps it very organized and clutter free

Couldn't miss Linda today....as she was at the front door welcoming all the visitors. Nice that Apple gave Shirts out for a re-model ( just too bad they weren't in a tube )
