A coworker of mine has 2 PC Laptos and 1 Snowball iMac. She has her USB printer hooked up directly to her iMac. Right now she goes through the hassle of unplugging the USB cord and plugging it into whatever computer she needs to print from. I suggested that she should get a USB print server connected to her wireless router through ethernet so that all of her computers can print to the same printer all the time. I then realized her copy of OS X is pretty old, 10.2.8.
Is this going to present a problem? If I remember correctly, I think Apple fixed some printing issues in 10.3 that made it a bit more PC friendly... or is my mind just making stuff up... Any problem will likely be more with whatever print server is chosen - they seem to be picky about which printers they'll work with. Why not just share the printer from one of the computers?

I tried print sharing from the iMac but I couldn't get PC's to recognize the printer. I imagine print sharing from PC's would work, but as I stated previously, both the PC's are laptops, so she moves them around and takes them on the road quite often. So - having one of them as a dedicated print server isn't that practical. ======================== Ignorance breeds fear and fear breeds stupidity.
