Hi!

It appears I have some monitor burn-in on my 24" Alum-iMac. It's not "bad," but I CAN see it on the right side of my screen. I've changed desktop colors to confirm, and even restarted my machine to "jolt" the screen a bit.

Is this even possible? I thought only CRTs had burn-in issues.

Would this be something covered under AppleCare? Smile

Thanks!

Thom

This happened to my wife's 24" too. Shut it off overnight and it should go away. Also don't leave windows in the same position for days.

I DO sometimes leave Chat client windows in the same spot. My screen goes to sleep after about 20 min. of inactivity. Also, the machine sleeps every night.

The burn-in is on the right side of the screen only...maybe within 6 inches from the right edge of the screen. Wallpaper burn-in (slight) as well as some chat client windows and at least 1 folder are visible. Slight...but noticeable.

Mad

It is not likely that Apple Care would replace the monitor as this is a user caused issue.

Flat panel TV's will do the same thing.

As I said it will go away. Switch to a white background for a few days & shut down every night for a few days. Also be sure no windows are in the area of the burn in.

You know what? YOU WERE RIGHT!!!!!

LOL.

I can't see any burn in this morning. At all.

One thing I DID notice (shortly after I got my iMac over a year ago)...was the color temp. discrepancy across the screen. On mine, the center and just left of center is a bit darker then the rest of the monitor. I know this is a "problem," and I don't think there's any fix for that, aside from returning the iMac and trying to find a better screen.

For the most part, it works well, so I am happy.

Thanks for the tip on the burn-in. So weird! Smile
