I did sell my 20" iMac. The customer took it home set it up and was using it for a couple of days. Then all of a sudden day before yesterday, they came home and surfed a couple of sites. They iMac got really slow and then stopped. They tried rebooting and it wouldn't get past the Apple logo/spinning wheel.

I told him to bring it back to me to look at. I booted from the Leopard disc, tried to do an Archive and install and that failed. I then tried to do Disk Utility repair and that failed. So it seems that it's either the hard drive or something worse. Needless to say, I don't want to stick a lot of money into this unit as it stands I may have to refund the money to the who bought it (which I'll gladly do).

So who can open her up and replace the hard drive for a reasonable price? If that fixes it then I'm all set. If that doesn't then I'll refund the money to the customer and scrap it as it's not worth doing any more with.

Ideas?

You can never go wrong by doing the right thing.

There are two kinds of computer users: those who have lost data and those who are about to — backup your Mac!

I am not adverse to giving it a crack as far as a repair.

iMac G5 isn't that tough, really. The Intels are harder.
