My HP 6500 refuses to print two-sided. I set it to print two-sided and press print and it prints one-sided.

I'm running 10.4.11 and this happens from Word, Excel, and any other software.

Does it print all the pages in order but singly, or does it print every other page? Do you have the option to select double-sided in the application's Print Setup or in the Print dialog box? Is that where you are telling it to print double-sided?

Specs say duplex printing is manual, driver support provided. I believe that means that you have to print one side and then print the other. Or at least you have to feed it manually in some way, rather than having the printer magically spit out the completed two-sided document. Some of them do do that--my sister has a 7780 (?)and it does it automatically, but VERY slowly.

As Donna said, the duplex spec for this printer is "manual", which usually means you print all of one side, stick the paper back in, then print the other side. It doesn't appear to have an actual duplexer.

If you print out the "Configuration Sheet" for the printer, it will say if a duplexer is installed.

Under "Two-sided Printing," I checked "Print Both Sides, but when I check under "Summary," it says "Two-sided Printing is turned off."

Also, how do I get the "Configuration Sheet" for my HP 6500?

I've had two-sided printers that work, but this is giving me difficulty.

Do you have the 2 sided accessory installed on the printer? I am guessing you do not.

See this link

and this one

Do a search in this pdf for "duplex"

I thought you were using a laser printer. There may not be an option to print a "configuration page" on this printer.

I have the 2-sided accessory installed.

Thanks for the link to the manual but it has nothing in about trouble printing 2-sided. I searched also with "duplex" without any results.

Thanks

In the PDF go to page 99. Or look in Section 11 in Printing Tips - 11.5

Calvin, I have used their procedure many times without success. Then, every once in a while on a two page file, it will work. I am about ready to take it back.

My sister had a lot of trouble with hers. They replaced the printer once and then they replaced the duplexer. It works now, but the duplexing is VERY slow, she says. She has a model in the 7000 series.

I wouldn't fart around. If you can take it back I would. It'll be an irrantant in the long run.
