Yes. Don't use anti-virus software or spyware on a Mac. Currently, it's a useless expense.
Or, just reinstall everything from the ground up if you're that concerned. Make a backup of this "sanitized platform," and reinstall it automatically everyday from your backup drive.
If you look at Windows statistics, something like 90% of all invasive forms of software originate from Microsoft Office applications. Like Office email and Word macros. That statistic is pretty amazing, when you consider DoubleClick, etc. Unfortunately, most computer users know less about computer maintenance than car maintenance, nor do they care.
You probably can't defend against the most virulent forms of invasive software anyway - so why worry about it? I knew one guy who built PC's, and he didn't use any anti-virus software. He was very knowledgeable, and he was very careful about what he did on his computers.
Maybe your DSL modem's firewall really didn't send a notice. Are you sure it wasn't your ISP or a spammer sending out a "broadcast" notice to a list of subscribers indicating a Windows virus warning, even to Mac, Unix, and Linux subscribers. Or possibly the firewall software is detecting a virus going around. If there's a single source for the virus, you should tell that user to clean up his computer.

When I get the "Blaster" notice, it happens as I try to link to any site, and the router's warning page comes up with the notice instead. I usually have to go to the preferences, check to make sure everything's okay, then I can start surfing again. If more than one computer is on the router, can only one cause the alert for all? I though if I get the notice, it's my computer doing the wrong.
