In case anyone else has experienced this...
Since sometime Saturday 5/17, Comcast internet subscribers who (like me) use USENET have been receiving Authentication Error messages, and cannot access newsgroups. This appears to be true in all parts of the country. USENET is provided to Comcast subscribers via GigaNews, but logins to that service are through a Comcast server. The comcast.net user forums are abuzz with reports and rants about this, but so far no response or fixes. Some who have tried reporting this by phone were met by operators who had no idea what USENET is or what to do to assist the caller. |

Followup, access seems to have been restored as of Monday night 5/19.
