Why don't you just try Firefox for those sites. Some sites have weird coding oriented more toward Internet Explorer and Firefox seems to work better for them for me.

While I would suggest upgrading your OS to 10.4 and getting a better version of Safari with that upgrade, many Realtor sites are wyndoze-centric. You may want to try the Firefox browser and see if that is more compatible. Since it is free to try and an OS upgrade will cost you money, I think it's worth a try. Wink

When my Father got his Real Estate license a few years ago he was disappointed that MLS was wyndoze only. Since Intel Macs came out, TONS of Realtors have been purchasing Macs to use Boot Camp to have the best of both worlds! Might be time to consider upgrading if you will be making a living from Real Estate.

Donna,

Poobelly meant she didn't have the cash for an OS upgrade at this time. I, for one, am interested if Firefox solves her problems.

I bet Firefox will be better with her bank or other money-related sites than Safari. It has been for me in several cases. If a site will not run properly in Safari, I copy and paste the URL into Firefox and try with that.However she's only running safari 1.3.1. with 10.3.9. I'm running version 3.0.4 with 10.4.11. Will any later version of Safari run with OS 10.3.9? If not, Firefox might. One advantage to Firefox is that you can set it to automatically update itself so, as they find new bugs or issues, you can stay current automatically. I've found that avoiding any extensions to Firefox helps also.Here are the minumum system requirements for Firefox:
Mac
Minimum System Requirements

* PowerPC G3 processor
* 128 MB of RAM
* 75 MB of free disk space
* Mac OS X 10.2.x

Mozilla Recommends

* PowerPC G4 or Intel processor
* 512 MB of RAM
* 150 MB of free disk space

Kelly,

I had similar problems with Safari and Firefox bombing. I noticed it seemed to happen when a certain animated ad was playing. I've switched home sites and learned to avoid that ad. Tho I dont have the most up to date OS,a couple of friends of mine with fully up to date OS's had the same thing happen to them. Pay attention to what ad is playing at the time. I'd bet that is the cause of your bombing.

Many sites don't play well with Safari, still. Usually Firefox, is my fall-back browser when that happens. Obviously, Explorer hasn't been supported on Mac for quite awhile (so, that ain't an option).

What I might recommend is trying a few other free web browsers, to see it they work well with the realtor sites in question. Namely, Opera and Camino.

I hope this helps.

I don't have much trouble with Safari 3 (current version). 1 and eve v2 were still pretty iffy on a lot of sites.

Are you trying to load Realtor.com and Oakland county realtor pages? If you are a member of the Realtor network, their site just doesn't work in Safari, minimally in Firefox. I hate to say it but as a licensed realtor myself, I know for a fact the Realtor folks just don't care.

If you can find a version of Internet Explorer, try it. It always crashed in Tiger but I've had it running well on their site in Leopard.

iCab works well and I know several realtors that use it, they bought the $39 Pro version and it works.

Sorry I don't have more inspiring news, call and complain to your local Realtor Board. You do pay dues/fees.

Linda

Kelly, come into the apple store and give 10.5 a try. Any salesperson can download iCab (trial) or IE on a machine for you to see if it works for you.
