I'm surprised to see that there are still a number of Karaoke sites – where you can download a MIDI file of a song and when played, the words appear in the QuickTime player's window. The karaoke files are quite small (14K) and have the suffix .kar, so they're not .mov or .avi-type movies.

How can such a file be made?
