The ability to set the date display in Leopard was one of Terry's tips at yesterday's meeting. I think I mentioned this on the bulletin board before, but bears repeating.
If you are running Tiger, the date & time can be displayed in a floating window on the desktop - though not in the menu bar. Date & Time prefs: "Show the date & time" select "Window," "Digital" You can also determine Transparency. This screen shot shows the result. (Since I have transparency set, some of the desktop photo shows through). Mary Jo:
Personally I think the "New" Leopard way is better. There is one less 'window' floating around on the desktop. Also now with the day/date/time all showing in the menu bar there is no question where it is and it will not block anything. Just my opinion though. Brian |

Brian - I agree 100%. Sometimes the floating image is a nuisance. Nevertheless it's handy, and I refer to it more times a day than I can count. My 2002 Mac tower is still chugging away, but isn't Intel. (Why does Apple make things work so well & so long?)
My "full-time Leopard" day is coming - hopefully pretty soon. "For what is age but youth's full bloom, A riper, more transcendent youth" - Oliver Wendell Holmes |

You can display the date and time in the menu bar with Tiger. Mac Addict magazine told us how to program it via the Terminal in the March '06 issue.
Or, look here. |
