Hi everybody,
I found a plugin for outlook that can do what I need done but I have this new found determination to de-microsoft my house. Anybody know of a Mac based solution that can achieve what I need done? I need to parse a standard formatted incoming e-mail to get a name & embedded e-mail address link. Sent that lead a welcome HTML e-mail with a PDF attached. Time is of the essence in follow up. Normally I run all of my e-mail on Google for Your Domain - so it's i-map/pop accessible. Thanks, Chad Beat Debt. Build Wealth! Just some points and related Mac programs that may work for what you want to do.
• Note that Apple's Mail, Address Book, Pages and more are fully integrated and work in conjunction with each other • Mail - the email address of incoming mail can easily be added to Address Book, with a simple Control-Click on the email address. • Address Book - you can create a new group to keep these newly added email addresses and names separate from other emails. This can be beneficial for organization and possibly mail merging, and even setting up a database • Pages (part of Apple's iWork suite) - create your welcome message and save it as a Template. You can then easily add the recipient's name that is stored in Address Book or even set up a data merge field in Pages that is linked to Address Book. Within Pages, you can also add Hyperlinks, images, and possibly even PDFs. • Once finished you can save the Pages file, or export it with various options, or send it to iWeb • Then it's back to Mail, to send the message Though I haven't implemented this particular scheme. Chances are that another MacGroup member has - or, may have a better solution. |

All those things could be done with Applescripts, but unless you're handy at programming, you'll need to find someone to put one together for you. You might find a script (or a few) that implement parts of what you want on the 'net, but one that does exactly what you want is a bit less likely.
For example, here is a script that does an auto-response with a message. It could be tailored with your message (where "set content" is) and then you would need to find a script to add an attachment. This page has a lot of the building blocks for the script you need. You'll then need to set up a rule to check your mailbox for these messages (an example of which is also on that web page). This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jack Beckman, === Professor Hubert Farnsworth: “Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That’s what being a scientist is all about.” Cubert J. Chad, I just happened to read your post again and missed this portion. So, I don't how much help my initial info was in relevance to the imap/pop question. Hopefully, my info helped a little. |
