I recently had a similar problem - Called Comcast and told them the problem. They were very helpful and patient - the end result was that somehow the Comcast download in Mail had gotten turned off.All the emails were on the mail section of Comcast itself. This may not be the same problem...but they will stick with you until it's solved.

I have no experience with using Comcast as an ISP - as I have an AT&T DSL account. Following are the only things that I can suggest looking into, because sometimes the ISPs change server and POP account info and settings and don't necessarily notify you of it.
Go to the mail account that resides on the Comcast server/account. Double-check info and settings for being able to open and view mail in other programs. I suppose that there is a slim chance that either within Comcast, or more likely in Apple Mail, that the Junk Mail or Spam settings may be the cause of the problem. Depending on the settings in Mail, the emails in question might be getting marked as Junk and are automatically being deleted???
