I am looking for a way to bring in an MP3 and do basic editing (cut out the beginning of a song for example). Is there anything like that for free?
I have not used it, but I've heard great things about Audacity
In iTunes, do a Get Info on the song. Click on the tab "Options". You can select the start and stop timne there. Then you can probably import it again from that file and have it shorter.
Changing the time in iTunes simply changes where it will start or stop playing. iTunes will not edit the file.
Professor Hubert Farnsworth: “Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it. That’s what being a scientist is all about.”
Cubert J. Farnsworth: “No, that’s what being a magical elf is all about.”
Audacity is free, MP3 Trimmer is shareware ($10.95).
You might look into Audio Hijack.
There is a free demo version and the program is only $16 or $32, depending upon what features you need. It might serve your purpose of clipping.
Have you considered Garage Band?
Thank you all, these are great suggestions!
