Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have not been able to open about half of the Quick Time files I get sent to me... The error message is: Quick Time Player must be installed to run this application. Any ideas on this issue?
thanks in advance |

What kind of files? Can you open the player and then play them? Did you install the v7 QT Player?

Snow Leopard comes with QT 10.0....
the new operating system will not allow me to install QT 7. The last file I downloaded was a wmv video and it would not open with QT 10 |

I just figured it out. I have to manually open the player and choose which download to open....it does not do it automatically as version 7 did.
thanks |

QT 7 is an OPTIONAL install with Snow Leopard. You cannot download QT 7, you must install it from the SL disk. Load up the SL install disk and click on "Optional Installs" to get QT 7.
WMV video will only open if you have the Flip4Mac add-on installed. If you right-clcik on a WMV file and select "get info", what application does it say it will open the file with? Try changing it to "Quicktime Player" if it doesn't say that already and select "change all". === Professor Hubert Farnsworth: “Nothing is impossible. Not if you can imagine it.
