My wife inadvertently unplugged the fire wire cable to the external hard drive where her iPhoto Library is stored while she was in iPhoto. Now her photos no longer appear in iPhoto. There is just a dotted outline with the photo name or number below it when she goes into the program. It appears the files are still in the Library on the hard drive but she can no longer access them. What must I do to restore access? Any help would be appreciated as my wife is getting frantic. The grandchild photos are in the Library. Thanks
Plug the external HD back into the computer, back sure it is powered and then hold down the Option button while clicking on iPhoto in the dock. This will allow you to choose the iPhoto Library to sync with iPhoto. Just choose the library from the external HD and everything should go back to normal.

Thank you, Dave. Your advice worked perfectly. Our grandson's smiling face is again looking at us from iPhoto. My wife wants you to know you have earned her hero of the day award.
