Hello!

Aside from some plug-in quirks I have...I'm most puzzled by the version of my copy of PS CS4. I've uninstalled CS4 completely, and reinstalled it completely, and the finder still shows this when I get info on PS:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 11.0.1 (11.0.1x20090216 [20090216.r.522 2009/02/16:17:00:00 cutoff; r branch])

I have the latest OSX updates, and the latest CS4 updates.

I've also notice that I can't really uninstall/reinstall JUST Photoshop from the CS4 discs.

(I'm having some functionality issues with OnOne Plug-In Suite 4.5.1 and they recommend reinstalling PS.)

Anyone have some ideas about my wacky version number?

Thanks.

Mine reads the same. I wouldn't worry too much about the version number.

Wow! Really? How weird is that?!

I have the On-One Plug-In Suite...and there are a few B&W filters that don't work correctly. Their tech support has tried helping me and suggested uninstalling/reinstalling PS.

To no avail.

I thought I had a freaky version of PS.

Confused

"Reinstall the app" is code for "I don't really know what the problem is."
It may work, it may not.

Which particular OnOne B/W filters aren't functioning properly?
I'll check to see if I have the corresponding and let you know if mine work.

I have the whole OnOne Suite. Specifically, in PhotoTools...

B&W Kev's Secret Formula A1

Wow Portrait B&W
Wow Portrait Glow & B&W
Wow Portrait Grainy Glow & B&W

None of these convert the image to B&W. The others in the B&W section seem to work.

OnOne sent me a "special" PS action script...and told me to run it and see if it worked. It did not. Same results. They said they have 3 different machines and they all work fine.

So...a few of these filters don't work as promised, but the rest do for the most part (as far as I can tell...haven't tested ALL of them).

Thanks for your help!

I don't know if the exact name makes a difference,
but I have under Black & White Treatments:
Kubota-B&W Kev's Secret Formulat A1
Davis-Convert to B&W-Portrait
along with 8 other settings and they work fine.

I do note that ones like "Add Glow" only seem to work
in conjuction with another B&W filter like "Kev's Secret"
to modify the image when converted to B&W.
Otherwise it seems to do nothing to the color image.

1. This is what the OnOne installer seems to have done
(a little curious, too)...
onOne Library.8li
is located in the PS CS4 Plug-ins Folder

PhotoTools Folder is located in Applications folder contaning
Plug-ins Files folder which contains all other Plugins/Presets
and an additional onOne Library.8li

2. Did you try resetting PS Prefs?
(Shift-Command-Opt-Launch PS-Yes)

Your resetting idea......WORKED! How weird! I totally uninstalled all that stuff (I thought)..and reinstalled the whole CS4....and you fixed it in 2 seconds!

Does that keyboard shortcut work for any app? So cool!!

Thank you so much!!

That keyboard shortcut can be used for a multitude,
if not all, of Adobe apps. It's one of the first places to go
when an app acts weird, and as you can see, far less painful.
The Prefs file is not one that would be effected by a reinstall of the app.
It's in an entirely different folder.

You're welcome.
