I have a iMac G5 - PPC running 10.4.11 - ! Gig of Ram.

When you click on Sleep under the Apple, it does not go to sleep.

There are no apps running that I know of

I have disconnected all of the peripherals and rebooted, still wont sleep.

It has an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse.

Any suggestions?

Open Activity Monitor and see if there is something running you didn't expect.

Try logging out then logging in as a "clean" test user and see if it sleeps.

Swap your ! Gig of RAM for 1 Gig and see if that helps <g>.

I fixed it.

The owner had a power problem 2 week ago about the time that the sleep function went away. I fixed it this way.

Power down the computer

Disconnect all peripherals

Disconnect the power cord

Wait 20 seconds

Holding down the power switch, I reconnected the power cord. Then released the power button.

Reconnected all peripherals and then powered up the computer.

Sleep function now works, no problem.
