If you look at this pic,,,notice the date in the keyword area,,,the pic was just taken but the date is 1/25/08. I checked date and time on the MCBK and initialized my camera but it still is there

Jan:
Where is the picture? The date comes from the capture device, not iPhoto. If you scan something the time/date comes from the computer it was scanned with. Your cameras date is/was probably set incorrectly or it's "CMOS" battery died. Once the document is created that's it's the time and date do not change. |

Jan:
Have you confirmed that the date is set correctly in your camera. Suggest you set it correctly, turn the camera off, then remove the batteries or battery pack. Wait a few minutes. Now reinstall the batteries and recheck the date to see if it is correct, try some junk shots to test the date/time function. If the date/time is not correct then the battery that maintains this function needs to be replaced. Refer to your owners manual for instructions on how to replace it. From this line I assume that you intended to post the picture or relevant data......... "If you look at this pic,,,notice the date in the keyword area". |

We are assuming that you imported the picture into IPhoto directly from your camera, or your camera's card via a reader. It looks like the date is not set properly in your camera. Have you looked in your camera's manual to see how to set the date to the current date? Are you sure your camera is in the right rime zone? etc.

Jan: Please recheck the date on your laptop. Make sure that it is correct, "hour/minute, day/month/year". Power down the laptop, remove the battery for a few minutes, (no AC adapter connected either). Then reinstall the battery and reboot, check the date again and let us know what the results are. If you would like you can call me direct in Oak Park at 546 - 9339. I will be home most of today and you can leave a call back message if I am out. Cameras normally do not have time zone settings, none of my 4 digital cameras do. That would not resolve an 8 month calendar difference as you are having. Brian |

Well I loaded the same pics with the same procedure to my desktop and of course it worked fine. Sounds like time to reload iphoto. Is time machine the tool to use to backup the iphoto library?

From the Apple iPhoto discussion boards, from users with a
very similar problem. Worth a try: Unable to change date in iPhoto "After calling tech support, I found the solution to my problem. There was some kind of conflict between iphoto and my system preference regarding date formats. To solve the problem I had to open International through System Preferences. Once there, I selected Formats changed my date settings and restart. This solved the problem and all dates listed in iPhoto were corrected. I was then able to change my date settings back with out effecting iPhoto." If memory serves me right, Phyll and I helped someone at a meeting whose iCal program wouldn't show the dates at all. The culprit was this same System Prefs. She had tried a tip for custom formatting and it 'changed something.' Unfortunately, the user doesn't say what they changed the format to. Maybe you could ask. |
