Thanks Jack for pointing me to this list.
Looks like after all these years they may have finally fixed my connectivity problems with iChat. Fingers crossed! Mac OS X 10.6 only runs on intel Macs. It will be a $29 ($49 family pack) upgrade for current Leopard owners. It will be available in September. I haven't seen a price yet for users of older OS's. ---- You can never go wrong by doing the right thing. 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions. I think for Tiger and below it's the typical $129.

OS 9 refugees will love "Put Back"
That "improved dialogs tell you which applications are using the drive so you know what to close in order to safely disconnect your drive." will be applauded by many. Now Microsoft should copy this. The default gamma of 2.2 should be appreciated by postproduction workers. (Photoshop and lots of others.) Date in the menu bar will save mousing to see the dim date display. I'm certain my eyes will appreciate that. It sounds minor, but the reorderable Mail sidebar will let me arrange things to my priorities, not those of some random programmer. In all, the projected improvements in performance and space efficiency, along with the new pricing, make the upgrade to Snow Leopard a Must Have. |

Interesting. I'm reading on my desktop Mac running Tiger, with an OS time AND date AND day of the week display on the desktop in the corner (not in the menu.) In Sys Prefs, Clock / Show the date and time / Window / Digital / Transparency slider. Couldn't find this feature in Leopard on my new MBPro, and couldn't figure out why it was omitted. VERY practical. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mary Jo Disler, "For what is age but youth's full bloom, A riper, more transcendent youth" - Oliver Wendell Holmes ![]() |

Date with Time in menu has been available in Tiger, just requires going into "International" System Prefs. From a 3 yr. old USENET post: System Preferences > International > Formats > Dates > Customize Set Show to "Medium" - the text box below should display something like "5 Jan 2006". Click once on the year and press delete - you should now have just "5 Jan" left. Highlight these two objects and press Command-C (copy). Cancel the sheet you copied the date elements from and switch to: System Preferences > International > Formats > Times > Customize Again, set Show to "Medium", position the cursor in the text box below to taste, usually in front of the time string, and press Command-V (paste). Click OK and you're done! You might need to manually insert a space between the pasted date objects and the time. ![]() |
