For the record, I had no intention of being curt (I like being called Kirk much better), rude, a thought policeman, lord over anyone, instill paranoia, be accused of it myself, make mountains out of mole hills, or stop anyone's constitutional right to muse about violating Apple's EULAs. I've "mused" about it myself.

Understanding KC's post, I still stand by my statement that Terry White, MacGroup Prez, will never let this forum or the MacGroup become a haven for illegal hacking or EULA violating until corrected by him. As Robin Williams said in Good Morning Vietnam, "THIS IS NOT GOING TO LOOK GOOD ON A RESUME!"

As far as how to say things in a post, the criticism and inferences I've read here, my question is who is thought policing whom?

This is definitely going to go down for me as a "Have a nice day" "Don't tell me what to do"
moment. You know trying to help someone, give them a friendly tip, or say something nice and getting it all twisted around.

I'm never "lost" cause I always know where "I" am. I just may not know where anything else is or how to get there.

Maybe you didn't, but when you post a comment such as " ... go elsewhere if you want to make a Hackintosh cause it won't be supported here." it sounds pretty curt and rude to me. I don't remember either KC or myself asking you (or anyone else) to *support* anything.

Terry strikes me as a extremely bright individual, and reads the post on this BBS on a daily basis. If he thought KC's [EXTREMELY BENIGN] statement of "I might to try to put OS X on my Dell" were threatening MacGroup in any way, he would had said something. The last time I checked, Terry is rather fluent in English and proficient at typing. If he needs your help I'm sure you'll be the first to hear about it! A haven for illegal hacking or EULA violating? Are you - SURE - you're not making mountains out of mole hills?

The person that started the criticizing was you. I completely agree with KC! If you wanted to respond to his post, all you had to say was...

"Although it's possible to install OS X on a WinTel box, it violates the EULA, is not very stable and it is difficult to do, and therefore I don't recommend it. Also - Let's try to stay on track with Chuck's original question."

Has a much more polite tone, wouldn't you agree??

Also - James is correct in that we have gotten way off base from Chuck's original question. So sorry about that Chuck, I do apologize and it wasn't my intention.

I love irony and the fabulous windows vista box developed a problem so serious that I have to ship it back to Gateway for repair under warranty. So, I basically said goodbye to Winblows this morning and ordered a Mac Pro. Once I get the gateway back, it'll be relegated to the corner where it will probably gather dust.

Microsoft should change the naming convention of its operating system versions with letter designations and start with the letter "P" so that it will better reflect what Windows is: P OS

I'm just wondering if I should tempt fate and load the copy of XP I've been saving on to the new Mac using Boot Camp. Big Grin
