Is there an app that can edit .wmv files without the output being converted to QuickTime? Doing so seems to increase the file size.

What platform are you planning on doing the editing on?

Mac or PC?

Try this search at Google for Windows.......... .WMV Editor

and this for Mac................... .WMV Editor for Macintosh.

Check Microsoft's website for free authoring utilities downloads. Microsoft offers a free editor for audio in Windows Media File Editor, I think. It's a very simple editor.

Windows toolkits don't go cross platform too often (like to freeware or open source software) because Microsoft demands licensing fees, something the open source community doesn't like. Also, Microsoft might want to charge for rewriting the source code to something cross platform. Microsoft doesn't like releasing source code, but they do like proprietary code.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'd be using this app on my PowerMac G4, and hopefully soon, a Core Duo.

Chuck,
Does Windows Movie Maker work on a Mac, or did you have a PC?

Windows Movie Maker is for Windows only.
