SUBJECT: The Many Facets of Up, Down and Cross Conversion

Digital video offers the ability to acquiring and distribute content in a great variety of forms.
No matter what resolution, format, aspect ratio or frame rate you shot and finished in, someone, somewhere will inevitably need it in a completely different form. This month, our program will address the problems encountered in converting video from one format to another, and offer some insights into solutions that preserve video quality during these processes.

Virgil Lowe, a video industry veteran, is founder of Fortel DTV. A noted engineer and designer, he has received many patents for "first in the industry" developments including CCD Time Base Corrector, YC mode (Y-688), noise reduction techniques, advanced comb filters, high noise immunity sync lock systems, and analog and digital video production switchers.
