I have DVD's that I made on IMovie and want to archive them on my hard drive for access in the future. I may want to make more copies or just play on the computer/ipad/TV. What would be the best way to do this without losing data?

I'm guessing you mean iDVD for making the DVD.

In iDVD, you can archive the whole project and recreate it later. This takes lots of disk space.

In iDVD, as you create the DVD, use File > Save as Disk Image... This takes up exactly the size of the DVD contents and can be burned to DVD media as often as required.

After iDVD, having the DVD in hand:

To make an image of the DVD:
Insert the DVD.
Quit DVD Player if it opens.
Open Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Select the DVD contents on the left
Click on New Image or File > New > Disk Image from "name of your DVD"

To burn the image to disk:
Insert blank media
Open Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Select the image on the left or use File > Open Disk Image

If you have any recent incarnation of Roxio Toast, use can use Disc Copy and Save as Disk Image. Burn the image by opening the image and click the big red Burn button.
