More concrete leaks about the product transition are surfacing, and it looks like there will be significant product changes in laptops and towers over the next 8 months. And many peripheral items also.
That new HDTV you purchased may have been obsolete before it left the stockroom. Apple, Intel, and Samsung are promoting a new connector standard called UDI. They're bypassing DisplayPort, and obsoleting DVI and HDMI ports. Samsung has announced new computer displays and new LED backlit HDTV's. IMO, a lot of the recent stories indicate the advent of 3DTV and tighter integration of A/V components.
Samsung has a close alliance with Apple.
Something else comes to mind concerning the Apple product transition: Apple might be notifying the public of new product developments so that Apple doesn't have major customer satisfaction issues (like when Apple dropped the price of the 4GB iPhone last summer).
