AppleInsider speculates/reports that Apple continues to put time and money into developing a new "Newton"

Since both the iPhone and iPod Touch are touch-screen devices, they could put the "Newton" into these as software upgrades.

While anything is possible and Apple could make a very cool PDA, I doubt very seriously if the word "Newton" will be anywhere near another product from Apple. The Newton got a horrible reputation (some of it deserved, most of it not) and nobody at Apple wants to bring that up again. Also SJobs ego won't let it be since the Newton was created when he was not at the helm.
So a PDA someday, maybe (although I doubt it, because they poopoo'd PDAs in the past as the market moved to smartphones), Newton NEVER! Lastly, I doubt that Apple would enter the PDA market because if they really wanted to make a PDA, the iPod touch would have been that device. They purposely left out PDA functionality (calendar editing, notes, etc.) in favor of the iPhone.

If they would morph the iPod Touch so it would have PDA functions, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Maybe a Touch Treo? Actually I don't care about the phone part. Email, browser and wireless would be fine.
