Apple Press Conference January 17th; Apple Blocking Vacations For 3 Weeks; Obviously A Major Product Launch
Rumors are that iWork ’11 will be announced (an upgrade is way overdue), and maybe the iPad 2nd generation, and possibly the holy grail of all mobile devices, the Verizon iPhone.
Now, the iPad launch was pretty big, but Apple didn’t block any vacation time for anyone for it, the only time Apple does this is for an iPhone launch.
I missed noticing that we have a "rumor-mill" category before I posted it here, but I don't see any way to move it
From the New York Times:
So this is all interesting. Apple has always been the one to announce something as major as a Verizon iPhone would be, so if they're allowing Verizon to make the announcement a week before the big Apple press conference, then Steve has decided something else should be the centerpiece. So maybe Steve will start with a recap of the iPhone announcement, then follow it by demoing a new iWork suite, maybe announce IOS 4.3, and then "one more thing" the iPad 2.
The proximity of these two announcements would jive with the vacation embargoes.
Of course, no one really knows! So we'll just have to wait.
I'm afraid we know what the Big Press Announcement is now -- Steve Jobs is taking an indefinite medical leave.
More in a separate posting.
