Yeah, and everyone was beating up Adobe for getting a universal binary version of CS3 out the door. Smile Software development takes time!

Leopard?
MS Office 2008?

People are more forgiving for being late than they are for being on time and buggy!

It is official now. Leopard goes on sale October 26th at 6:00PM.

A report also said it ships today on new Macs or on a disk with new Macs (Seems you can get it early with a new Mac). Those that bought a Mac after October 1st, can get Leopard for the shipping fee of $9.95.

Hopefully Leopard will open the doors for new Apple hardware.

Other than processor speed bumps, not much has been happening with Apple computers, monitors, TV's, multimedia (hi def), etc. There's a lot of potential out there, but not much actuality.

I hope you don't use any Adobe CS3 products...or SuperDuper...or FileMaker...

I hope everybody doesn't let their enthusiasm for Leopard overwhelm their common sense. Make sure the applications you *need* to run *will* run OK on Leopard, and make sure you have a *full backup* of your current system.

Oh come on Jack .... throw caution to the wind. It's OS X.... it's flawless....Okay now sanity sets in.

Are you saying that the apps you mentioned will not run under Lepoard?

Please advise.

Adobe, Shirt Pocket (makers of SuperDuper), and FileMaker have all stated that their products either will not or may not operate under Leopard and do not recommend upgrading at this time.

Terry might want to post Adobe's official stance, but it sounded less than "might not" to me. If you need one of those apps for your livelihood, do you want to take a chance?

How many other apps do you folks have that are in the same boat? Make sure the apps you need are stated to work under Leopard!

Some recovery tool makers are also cautioning people - don't run Tech Tools or Disk Warrior until they have updates available.

Of course, if Apple would give *developers* the gold master early instead of *journalists*, some of these programs would be fixed already.

I will have an official post tomorrow here and on my blog.

Nevertheless, you SHOULD BACKUP FIRST! Not only that, I would propose that you install Leopard on your BACKUP DRIVE instead of your main internal drive. This way you can boot from your backup (and see if your backup really works) AND you can test all your apps first. If something you need doesn't work, then simply boot from your internal drive and you're back to where you were before Leopard. Since drives are relatively cheap these days, why not have TWO backups? One that you do before Leopard and put it away. The other that you use to install Leopard on and test. This way you can't lose!

But don't count on Apple Backup - Leopard requires 3.1.2 - which isn't out yet.
