Sources reveal part of Apple's new Mac product lineup
quote:
Apple on Tuesday morning took its online stores offline and appears to be in the process of introducing the remainder of its Mac product line up for the 2009 holiday shopping season.

This source quotes Apple's 4Q2009 Conference Call as:
quote:
First, for the new products that we have and will announce, we're delivering greater value to our customers and these products have lower gross margins than their predecessors.

BindApple translates that sentiment into English: "Apple will cut prices." He said that weeks before Apple did. The competition is challenging Apple.

I can easily see replacing my MacPro (2006) with the high-end iMac and coming out ahead of the game over getting another MacPro (for what I need). And the MacMini server is quite a deal as compared to adding Server to a MacMini - very good price.

I noticed that the 13" MacBooks have re-acquired FireWire ports.

If it matters to anyone, USB 3.0 ports will probably show up after May 2010 (the next likely upgrade). Maybe Blu-Ray DVD's will make it into the next iteration too, but it will require some OS X software enhancements. Steve Jobs really does want to make a (functional Big Grin) media center out of Macs.

The new MacBook does NOT have a Firewire port on it. But most users of this model probably don't care. If you need Firewire still you will either upgrade to the MacBook Pro or find the older white MacBook.

Dave: Yes, the 13" MacBook does not. The 13" MacBook Pro does.
