Hello, I know that you can never have too many hard drives to back up your stuff-since I am one of those people that "have lost" info before. I recently purchased a new hard drive for that reason. I forget what I needed to do to the drive. It is a Fantom eSata/usb 2.0 external 500gb drive. Does it matter if I format GUID partition? In the manual of the drive it says to click on "Apple Partition Map"? Which is better?
(I have a Mac mini 2.0 MB139LL/A; Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz). Thanks, Natalie Yesterday is a cancelled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - so spend it wisely |

You should use Disk Utility to repartition with GUID, not APM (Apple Partition Map). APM is for PPC machines. While Intel machines can use APM, you should stick with GUID.

Thanks Jack! I'm glad I didn't follow the directions in the manual!

Those instructions are fine for pre-Intel Macs. Apparently Fantom isn't exactly on top of the Mac market.
