I was thinking of using Keynote but I read somewhere that its a great application if you don't need something compatible with PowerPoint. Can I open a Powerpoint presentation in Keynote and also, if I create a presentation, can I make it compatible with PowerPoint? thanks, rick

Yes, you can import a PowerPoint and export to PowerPoint, but some things may not line up exactly the same. Also, Keynote has transitions the PP doesn't and they will be lost when exporting.
