I had a few minutes to play with Numbers yesterday and it seems like it will do just fine for my "personal" spreadsheet needs which are very minimal. However, a couple of my Excel spreadsheets are saved with passwords for privacy/security reasons.
I don't see a way to do this in Numbers. Is there a security feature? I could do an encrypted disc image I guess, but it would be nice if this "basic" need were in Numbers directly. As usual Apple really gets presentation/user interface right, but in some cases misses the basics. ---- You can never go wrong by doing the right thing. 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions. Can you change file permissions somehow? To "read only" for you only? That might take a little Unix know-how, but I don't think it's difficult.
I don't have Numbers, Terry, and won't for some time. |

I could do that, but what I need is for this file not to be able to be opened without a password.
Numbers is VERY COOL and perfect for my minimal spreadsheet needs. However, if I'm expected to put financial or other sensitive info in a spreadsheet, I want to secure it from prying eyes. ---- You can never go wrong by doing the right thing. 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions. I haven't tried it, Terry, but what about something like this:
